Red Light-Green Light – Practice Game

Red Light-Green Light is a great game to help younger players practice dribbling while having fun at the same time. It also encourages players to keep the ball close to them and under control while dribbling.

Progressions
  • Increase time allowed to stop for younger/less-skilled players; decrease for older/more-skilled players
  • Use red and green cards rather than calling out so players must dribble with their heads up
  • Add obstacles, turns, or include “yellow light” call where players must execute a random or designated dribbling move (such as a scissors or step-over) while advancing
