Keeper Toss and Save – Practice Game

The Keeper Toss and Save is a practice game and warm-up that will help goal keepers improve their recovery speed after saving a shot.

Since I’m reasonably sure I invented this game, there is no video available. You’ll have to make do with my horrible illustrations.

Needs
  • Goal Keeper
  • Server
  • 2 balls
Play
  • Keeper begins at one goal post with one ball in hand (frame 1)
  • Server begins at penalty spot with the other ball (frame 1)
  1. Keeper begins play by tossing his ball as high in the air as possible (frame 2)
  2. Server then immediately serves his ball toward the opposite post (frame 3)
  3. The keeper must make the save and recover to catch the thrown ball before 2 bounces (frame 4)
  4. Perform several repetitions
  5. Repeat with keeper beginning from opposite post
